I’m Khalid from Mombasa, Kenya. My role as a lifeguard onboard MSC cruises is to ensure the pool is manned and safety is assured to the bathers. It is my responsibility also to ensure I provide first assistance (first aid) to guests and crew who’ve been accidentally injured. Also ensuring the cleanliness of the pool and around the pool deck when not assigned safety position.

I really appreciate Coach Babu (Life saving commissioner and head coach Lifesaving Cadet) and the whole team of lifesaving cadet for their support and team work. I joined the club as a volunteer to a coach…my growth from a regular swimmer to certified lifeguard all the way to become a lifesaving junior instructor

I love my job because it brings out the best of me as a proud aquatic professional, it is also my passion to save a life.

The biggest challenge working on a cruise ships is staying long term away from home. I would like to encourage the youths who would like to work onboard cruise ships, never give up.

Respect, law and order are paramount on board because everyone is equal no matter the nationality, religion or skin color.
