After completing my courses, I took the opportunity to volunteer at the Mombasa Yacht Club, where I was introduced to the world of sailing. This experience broadened my horizons beyond lifesaving—it taught me navigation, teamwork on the water, and how safety is deeply connected to every maritime activity. It was here that I learned the importance of anticipating risks before they arise, and how to communicate effectively with people of different ages and backgrounds. These skills proved invaluable when I later transitioned to working in an international environment.

Securing a position as a lifeguard with Carnival Cruise Line was a milestone I had long worked towards. It represented not only a personal achievement, but also a chance to carry the values of the Life Saving Cadets onto a global stage. On board, my role is far more than just watching over the pools—it is about being a trusted guardian of safety for thousands of passengers and crew from around the world. Every day brings new challenges, from conducting safety drills to responding calmly under pressure, but it also brings the reward of knowing that my presence helps create a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.
